Cool Kids Triple-Album Comeback

In the early 2000s, SoundCloud was flooded with rappers connecting with audiences online. One of the top acts from that era, The Cool Kids, soon found success with their debut album "The Bake Sale," which spent ten weeks on the Billboard 200. In the time since, they've cultivated a fanbase with albums "When Fish Ride Bicycles" and "Special Edition Grand Master Deluxe."

People who've been waiting for new work from The Cool Kids will see their patience rewarded three-fold. Sir Mike took to Instagram to tell fans that "Before Shit Got Weird" is going to be a triple album. According to the post, there's no way to fit all their vibe on one album. So, instead, we're getting:

a solo album from Sir Michael Rocks.
a solo album from Chuck Inglish.
one from the duo performing together.

While this is the first time that the duo will drop separate albums simultaneously, the MCs have each released solo music in the past. In 2020, Sir Mike released "Broken Window of Opportunity." Chuck Inglish's last solo project, "Ev Zepplin," was released in 2016.

The group's path has been an unconventional one. As teenagers, the pair connected on MySpace. Sir Michael Rocks first approached Chuck Inglish about purchasing a beat that Inglish had produced. The two hit it off creatively, and wound up recording together soon after. Progress in their early days was hampered by Sir Mike's young age. As a highschool senior, he was too young to visit clubs to promote their music.

Together, the pair's most recent effort is the digital-only release "Volumes." The 13-song album featured guest verses from Boldy James and Guapdad 4000, and has production from Kenny Beats and The Alchemist. Other collaborators include Ludacris, Maroon 5, Yelawolf, Kenna, and Chip that Ripper.

So far, we've gotten one single, Hibachi, which features Atlanta rapper KEY!. No word on the release dates for other tracks or the albums themselves, but listeners are waiting anxiously.
