Why Megan Thee Stallion Is Doing "Thot Shit"

On June 10, Megan Thee Stallion released another compelling music video to support her single "Thot Shit." The video starts with a congressman typing degrading comments on her videos before being confronted by Megan over the phone. The video then segues to women in a series of blue-collar jobs dancing provocatively, with a bit of menace thrown in.

Why "Thot," Though?

The popular music video has chalked up over 17.5 million views on YouTube alone, and has sold over 500,000 units in the US. But, some fans were confused by her choice to use a derogatory term (that hoe over there) in her title. Not surprisingly, Megan had an answer:

“I’m really just talking shit and taking ownership of the words ‘thot’ and ‘hoe’ bc they’re not the drag the men think it is when trying to come at women for doing them,” Megan replied on Twitter.

In a statement, Megan Thee Stallion expanded to explain that "Thot Shit" celebrates women who unapologetically enjoying themselves by doing what they want, no matter what people have to say about it.

The release comes after a much-needed break for the overworked superstar. Megan had announced in April that she was taking a month break from social media. She temporarily handed the reins to her assistants, who continued to post on her behalf while Megan concentrated on other things.

The girl has definitely been keeping busy, even with her return to Twitter. She recently announced an appearance in Las Vegas. In another tweet, she discussed the challenges of balancing school with a career. During her college education, she attended multiple community colleges before transferring to Texas Southern University to finish her degree.

She's slated to graduate at the end of the summer semester, and has already invited her "hotties" to attend her graduation. We think it's gonna be lit.
